Information:
The closure of aortic valve and pulmonary valve produces s2 heart sound whereas the closure of tricuspid and mitral valve produces s1 sound.
Regions:
(1.)Aortic valve: right second intcostal region near the sternum
(2.)Pulmonary valve:left second intcostal region near the sternum
(3.)Tricuspid Valve: 4th and 5th intercostal region near the sternum
(4.)Mitral Valve: 5th intercostal region in midclavicular line(apex of the heart)
Procedure:
-To better listen pulmonic heart sound, patient is asked to lean forward.
-To better listen mitral valve patient is asked to lie down on left lateral position. This is because heart will come more close to the chest wall and heart sound will be more clear.
